SMIA Diwali Dhamaka 2025

The Southwestern Michigan India Association (SMIA) invites you to our 2025 Diwali Dhamaka! To ensure a smooth and vibrant Cultural Festival, we have put together a few friendly guidelines for participation. We are so excited to see all the wonderful performances and talent from our community!

Cultural Event Participation Guidelines

Performance Submission & Selection Process

  • How to Submit: Kindly submit your performance details using this form. Submissions sent via email will not be accepted.
  • Submission Window: The performance submission form will be open from September 16th and will close on September 25th.
  • Selection Criteria:
    • Song requests are selected on a ‘first come, first serve’ basis.
    • In case of a song conflict, preference will be given to SMIA members.
    • Group performances will receive preference over other performances.

Performance Requirements

  • Group Size: Group performances (dances, plays, etc.) must have a minimum of 4 participants. If you join a second group, that group must also have at least 4 participants, not including yourself.
  • Performance Duration: Individual or small group performances should not exceed 4 minutes. Groups with 8 or more participants may perform for up to 5 minutes.

Song, Scheduling & Notification

  • Performance Audio Submission: First draft of songs (MP3 format) due by October 5th. Final version due by October 25th.
  • Committee Discretion: The SMIA Executive Committee reserves the right to allocate time slots for the performances. All event-related issues should be brought to their attention.
  • Notification: Selected performances will be communicated to all participants by September 30th. The final performance slots will be communicated by October 29th.
  • Dress Rehearsal: Dress rehearsal will be held on October 30th.

Kids' Program (Ages 2-5)

We are seeking volunteer choreographers for our 2-5 year-old kids’ program. If you are interested, please email us.

Parents who want their children to participate in this program should send us an email with their child’s name and age by the performance submission deadline.
